Terms of Use
The rules for using The Minute Men Today. Plain English, and short.
These terms are an agreement between you and WeldonPC.com, who runs The Minute Men Today. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
In force from 2 August 2026.
Who may use this site
Anyone may read the site. To write anything — a review, a comment, a business listing — you need an account, and you need to confirm your email address first.
This site is not built for children. You must be 13 or older to hold an account here. If you are under 18, please ask a parent before you sign up.
Your account
- Accounts are for real people. One person, one account.
- Use an email address you actually control. We send confirmation and sign-in messages to it.
- Do not pretend to be someone else — a neighbour, a business owner, a council member, or a member of our staff.
- Keep your password to yourself. Anything posted from your account is treated as posted by you. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into it.
- You can hide your public profile, or ask us to close your account, from your profile settings.
The Minute Pass
- The Minute Pass is optional. The briefings and explainers are free to read with or without it. While you are signed in with an active pass you can read the full text of every Minute Pass piece (in-depth articles and how-to guides; everyone else sees the first section, the numbered steps and any passages quoted from the sources), and pages are shown without ads, house ads or the sponsor line. That is all the pass does. Minute Pass pieces are written by AI from linked public sources and published on a schedule only when they pass an automated check, so we do not promise a fixed number of pieces in any week. How-to guides follow the vendor's own help pages; vendors change their menus, and the vendor's page is the authority.
- Preview (now): online payment is not switched on. A preview pass is free, nothing is charged and no card or PayPal account is asked for. A preview pass lasts 31 days. Cancelling ends it at once.
- When payment opens: the monthly pass costs $1.95 a month and the annual pass $19.50 a year, paid through PayPal. A paid pass renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. You will be asked to agree before anything is charged, and we will not move a preview pass onto a paid plan without that.
- Cancelling: cancel any time on the pricing page or in your PayPal account. Cancelling stops all future renewals; a paid pass keeps working until the end of the month or year already paid for. Cancelling does not by itself refund a payment (see Refunds).
- Refunds: if you write to us within 14 days of a charge, we will refund that charge in full. Write to [REVIEW: contact email address for legal and privacy notices].
- Prices include no hidden fees. If a price ever changes, it changes only from your next renewal, and we will tell you on the site first.
Directory, reviews and noticeboard
The business directory, reviews and the community noticeboard described below are switched off on this site. Those sections of these terms apply only if they are switched back on.
Business listings
A listing must be created by someone entitled to represent that business — the owner, or somebody the owner has asked to do it. Do not create a listing for a business you have no connection to, and do not claim one that is not yours.
- New listings are read by a person before they go on the directory. That takes a little while. You will see it as “pending” in your account until then.
- Rewriting a live listing sends it back for another read. This is not us being difficult — it stops an approved listing being quietly turned into something else.
- Claiming a listing that already exists is a request, not a switch. A person checks it and decides. Nobody gets control of a real business's listing automatically.
- Everything you put in a listing — address, phone number, email, website, opening hours — is published. Do not put anything in there you would not want on a public web page.
- You can take your listing off the directory at any time from your account. Reviews are hidden with it rather than deleted, and they come back if you put the listing back.
What you post stays yours
You keep ownership of everything you write and every photograph you upload. You are not signing it over to us.
By posting it here you give us permission to store it, to show it on this site, and to resize or re-encode pictures so they fit the page and load quickly. That permission lasts while the content is on the site and for as long as we need to keep our records of it — see the Privacy Policy for what those records are.
Only post what is yours to post. If you upload a photograph somebody else took, or text somebody else wrote, you are telling us you have the right to. If you think something on this site is yours and should not be here, use our copyright takedown route.
Reviews
A review must be your own first-hand experience of that business. Not a rumour, not something a friend told you, not a review of a different branch or a different company.
- Do not review your own business, and do not review a competitor.
- Do not write a review in exchange for a discount, a free item or a favour.
- One review per business per person. You can edit yours later.
- Reviews are published straight away. Some are held for a person to read first — usually because they contain links or contact details, or because something about the pattern of posting looked odd. If yours is held, your account will say so.
- We keep earlier versions of an edited review. That is on purpose: a five-star review that is quietly rewritten into a one-star accusation after the owner has publicly thanked the reviewer makes the owner look like they agreed with it.
- The business owner may reply to your review once, in public, under it.
The full rules for reviews, comments and business posts are in the Community Guidelines, and they are part of these terms.
The community noticeboard
- Anybody in the town can post a notice — you do not need an account. A lost dog should not require a sign-up form.
- Nothing appears until a person has read it. Every notice waits for a moderator, usually within a day. That is how the board works, not a setting we might change: this site writes about real named people and places, and a stranger's unreviewed words going straight up is the one thing a later click cannot undo.
- We may decline a notice without giving a reason, and we may take one down after publishing it. If you gave us an email address we will tell you either way, once.
- You can withdraw your own notice at any time — the link on your confirmation page works without an account, and it puts the notice back too.
- Anything you type in the contact line is published. That is what it is for. Do not put anything there you would not hand to a stranger.
- The board is for the town: notices, events, lost and found, and things for sale or free. It is not a business advertising channel — that is what a directory listing is for.
Private messages
- You cannot message a member out of the blue. A conversation can only be started about something that person chose to publish — a notice they wrote or a listing they own. There is no way to message someone simply for being a member, and that is deliberate.
- Nobody may send twice in a row. You send one message, then it is their turn. There is no state in which anyone can send you a stream of messages.
- Either of you can end a conversation, and declining a first message also blocks the sender.
- Reporting a conversation stops it immediately for both of you — including the person who reported it — and asks a moderator to look. Use it. You do not have to wait for somebody to reply.
- Do not use messages to advertise, to send the same thing to lots of people, or to approach somebody who has told you to stop.
- What we hold, how long we hold it, and the narrow circumstances in which we can read a message are set out in the privacy notice. Please read that part before you decide what to type.
Things you must not do
- Impersonate a person, a business, the city, or this site.
- Harass, threaten or intimidate anybody, here or by using something you found here.
- Post somebody's private details — a home address, a personal phone number, a workplace, a photograph of them they did not agree to.
- Post advertising, link spam, or the same text over and over.
- Post anything hateful, obscene or unlawful.
- Run bots, scrape the directory in bulk, or try to get round our rate limits.
- Try to break into the site, other people's accounts, or the machine it runs on. That includes uploading a file that is not really a picture.
Moderation, suspension and removal
Moderators can hide or remove a review, a comment, a post or a picture, suspend a listing, or suspend an account. We do that when something breaks these terms or the guidelines — and, in clear cases, we do it before we have heard both sides, because leaving harassment or somebody's home address on a public page while we deliberate is not a neutral choice.
If we act on something you wrote, we tell you in your account. We keep a record of the decision, including after the content itself is gone. If you think we got it wrong, write to us and say so — the address is at the bottom of this page.
You can stop using the site at any time, and you can ask us to close your account. We may also stop providing the site, or part of it, at any time.
What this site is not
- We do not settle arguments between residents and businesses. If you have a dispute with a business, that is between you and them. We are not an arbitrator, a consumer body or a court, and asking us to remove a review because you disagree with it is not something we can act on by itself.
- We do not vouch for the businesses listed here. A listing is not a recommendation, a rating is not a guarantee, and we do not check anyone's licenses, insurance or qualifications. Do your own checks before you hire somebody.
- Reviews are other people's opinions, not ours. We host them. We do not confirm that any of them is accurate.
- The site is provided as it is. We work to keep it up and correct, but we do not promise it will be available, complete or error-free.

Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. If we change something that matters, we will put a notice on the site. Carrying on using the site after a change means you accept the new version.
