How this site works

This site has no human editor. The news is a briefing written by an AI model (OpenAI gpt-5-mini). A scheduled job checks every morning and publishes a new briefing at most once every 3 days. Each time, it fetches the public news feeds of technology publishers (TechCrunch, Ars Technica, The Verge, Wired, BleepingComputer, The Register and Krebs on Security), picks recent stories, and asks the model to summarise each one using only that publisher’s own headline and summary.

Before anything is published, an automated check in our own code compares each item with its source: names, numbers, key words, and words that change meaning such as “not”, “denied” or “every”. It also rejects quotation marks, partisan or endorsement language and predictions stated as fact. This check compares words; it cannot prove that a sentence means exactly what the source says, so every item links to the original report. If any item fails, the job publishes nothing that run and logs why. It does not save a draft for a person to review, because there is no one to review it; it simply tries again on a later morning.

Every briefing is labelled “AI-written” with its date and model, and spending on the AI is capped in code at $1.00 a day.

Explainers

The explainers (for example on two-factor authentication or VPNs) were written by an earlier AI job from general technical knowledge, not from a news source. They are labelled AI-written and carry no outside source. That job is switched off.
